The Storybook Room
When we bought our home, the upper portion of this room was hidden beneath a thirty-year-old high-pile brown carpet that obscured the original features and revealed evidence of a small fire from decades past. This became our design foundation: restore what's authentic, thoughtfully address what's damaged, and layer in meaning.
We removed the charred paneling and installed chair molding to preserve the original lower walls, then rebuilt the upper portion with new drywall and fresh paint. The hardwood floor was refinished to complement the doors throughout the home.
From there, full-service design meant sourcing every element with intention. A custom plaid linen canopy I selected, an estate sale lamp paired with a shade from Pooky, curated artwork, and furnishings that balance new finds with irreplaceable family pieces: her grandmother's quilt, the patchwork pillows from my own childhood, and a hand-stitched bunny I made for her.
