Jessie Surber

Jessie Surber is the founder and principal designer of Jessie Surber Interiors, a residential interior design studio focused on creating highly original homes grounded in craftsmanship, color, and thoughtful composition.

Design Philosophy

Jessie approaches design as both an art and a discipline, shaped by time as much as by training.

Long before interior design became her profession, she was learning color through art, pattern through fabric, and proportion through making and living in real spaces. Formal study, hands-on renovation work, painting, sewing, and years of observation continue to inform how she approaches a room today.

Over time, experience has refined her discernment. Most spaces don’t need more ideas. They need clearer ones. The work is as much about editing and judgment as it is about selection.

Her belief is simple: good design should feel effortless to live in.

Education & Experience

Jessie’s perspective on design was shaped early by growing up in a home where creativity and making were part of daily life. With an artist for a mother and a father skilled in construction and problem-solving, she developed an appreciation for both expressive design and technical precision.

She holds an associate degree in liberal arts and completed advanced interior design coursework through a London-based program. Since 2016, she has continued to deepen her technical expertise through focused self-study and extensive project work.

Jessie brings firsthand experience to every project, having led multiple residential renovations, including the redesign of her own 1940s Cape Cod home. Her work spans spatial planning, cabinetry design, material selection, and close coordination with trades.

In addition to residential projects, she has completed select commercial and creative work, further shaping her understanding of how spaces function beyond aesthetics alone.

There are two rectangular mirrors framed in gold above the sinks, with wall-mounted gold light fixtures beside them. A towel is hanging on a gold towel rack, and a small vase with orange flowers is on the countertop. The bathroom has two windows with white blinds, and the floor has a patterned tile design.

Outside the Studio

When she’s not working with clients, Jessie spends time painting, visiting galleries, tending her garden, and traveling with her family.
